The licensing for ServerAssist varies for the different editions. Professional edition is licensed either on a subscription or perpetual basis. Workgroup edition is only available as a perpetual licence.
Professional Edition - Subscription
The Professional subscription licence allows unlimited monitoring of servers, applications and network devices.
Applications (file, mail, database and web servers) running on a monitored system are covered under the licence for that system. Applications running on an otherwise unmonitored system are treated as a separate system and will be billed as such.
Usage for the previous month is billled once a month, with itemised listings giving a detailed system usage breakdown.
Professional Edition - Perpetual
The Professional perpetual licence is available on a per server basis or as a single, corporate-wide licence.
For the per server licence, applications (file, mail, database and web servers) running on a monitored system are covered under the licence for that system. Applications running on an otherwise unmonitored system will require a separate license. The per server licence also allows monitoring of an unlimited number of network hardware devices.
The corporate licence allows unlimited monitoring of all servers, applications and network hardware running on any system owned or operated by a single legal entity.
The corporate licence is not available for service providers (see notes below).
Workgroup Edition
ServerAssist Workgroup is licensed on a per device basis. A device is a Windows server or any IP addressable system that supports SNMP. Three different licences cover monitoring for 15, 30 and unlimited devices, allowing you to tailor your licence to the size of your network.
The Workgroup edition is licensed for monitoring using a single machine as the central monitoring system. For the unlimited devices licence, the software will place no restrictions on the number of systems that can be monitored, but the capabilities of the underlying hardware and software will naturally impose their own restrictions.
The unlimited licence is not available for service providers (see notes below).
Licence-Free Components
There is no licence required when installing components that do not carry out monitoring functionality themselves.
Any system running only the desktop console, web interface, publisher or gateway, or any combination of these, does not require a licence.
Licence Agreement
The ServerAssist licence agreement is available for review.
Notes
The corporate and unlimited workgroup licences are not available to service providers. A service provider is an individual or organisation whose primary business function is to provide information technology services to other individuals or organisations. Service providers wishing to use ServerAssist as part of their commercial offering should contact us to discuss their requirements. Full white-label packaging is available.
